THOMAS WHARTENBY SILVER TEAPOT c1815 WINTERTHUR A very fine and rare c1815, Thomas Whartenby Empire style silver grape and leaf decorated teapot. Apprenticed under famed Philadelphia silversmith Samuel Richardson Jr. This American Empire silver teapot was likely crafted shortly thereafter. His most important commission was by the citizens of Philadelphia, presenting an extensive drinks set to the hero of the War of 1812 Stephen Decatur in 1818.
