Moore of Tiffany fame, silver grape and leaf, branch handle & spout coffee pot.Moore was one of the most important silversmiths and designers of the 19th century. Working alone for most of the 1840s, when he used the J. Hallmark displayed on the pitcher we offer today, and illustrated Ensko, page 292 and Carpenter page 211. Moore also supplied Tiffany & Co.
And Ball Black in New York, until 1851 when he agreed to move his shop to Tiffany and manage their entire silver making and design operations. Moore best known for the E. Collins tea service, made entire of gold from his California mines. That set was displayed at the London Crystal Palace Exposition in 1851.
